Filming with Shaw TV

I recently got the opportunity to film with Shaw TV about investigating the paranormal.  I must admit to have been a tad nervous before we got into the swing of things but after a while I even forgot the cameras were rolling!  The crew from Shaw TV were superb and really put us at our ease - getting the best out of us for sure!

Filming took 2 hours for a 3 minute piece of footage.  I was amazed how well they did at putting the pieces together and coming up with something that told the story of what we do and how we do it.

This experience has demonstrated that I absolutely love what I do and when you have the passion for something you can talk and talk about it without feeling stuck for words.  Watching the footage on TV tonight was an interesting experience - you don't often get to see yourself perhaps as others do and I found myself being rather critical of my choice of clothes, the way I wear my nerves on my neck in the form of a red rash and having a few pounds too many lol!  I think we are all hard on ourselves and I got to wondering how movies and TV stars manage to watch themselves.

Every experience for me is about learning and this is what I learned from filming with Shaw:

  • Cover your teeth with Vaseline before you go on camera as this apparently stops your lips from sticking to your teeth with nerves.
  • Try to use short statements so that it makes editing easier (this is something I really need to work on lol).
  • Try not to be nervous for days before - its never really as bad as you imagine
